I started as an over weight lorry driver not doing any exercise other than down the pub. Started in the garden with digging our fish pond I thought it was going to take forever.

Any way time went on and I did not do as much as I wanted to/should have done and by the time I did I was enormous. As my age was creeping on I had to have a medical to renewal my HGV licence, to my shock I was told that I was severely over weight (not sure where they got that from) and that I needed to get it sorted out. With that in my mind knowing that I needed my licence I set about doing some exercise.

I started to bike to work every day about 18/20 miles (which nearly killed me) round trip. This then began taking the weight off the first couple of months I lost a lot. After doing this for about 5/6 months I decided to take up running as well. By the time I got to about 9 months in I had lost nearly 5 stone in weight. I looked and felt like a different person even some of my relatives did not recognise me. I felt great and looked thin. I then gave my self a challenge and took a biking holiday in Slovenian Alps. The views were breath taking but the hills were big and challenging.

Once I returned home I decided that I needed a new challenge and done a duathlon (bike-run) my time was not great but at least I completed it and did not bail out.

My next challenge for me was to do a Triathlon, this is serious stuff so I got some professional swimming lessons, a new bike and a bucket load of enthusiasm and set about doing some training for my next event. Triathlons are a bit expensive to do so I signed myself up to one for charity, this was my first ever and I wanted to do my best and not finish last.

DuathlonAfter completing this triathlon I went on to do more and raised more money for charity. I have since done more running and even done a 100 mile bike ride.

At work my achievement has inspired others to get involved and to just do some exercise to keep fit.

I am now looking for other challenges to do and I have a Bucket List which is as follows

Compete in a Yacht Race, Trek to the North Pole, Marathon des Sables (six day race in Sahara desert), Drive a Road Train across the Australian outback.

All of which takes time and money but hay one day I will get there. I have even started with my first one the Yacht Race I am on the Clipper Venture Yacht Race doing legs 7 and 8.

Why a yacht race – it is a test of Nerve, Endurance and Pushing Mind, Body and Sole to limits I have never done before. Ryan Worthington was instrumental in getting me to the level of fitness that I am today and fully recommend his work!

Part of my mission is to make sure that people I work with to achieve their fitness goals are educated enough that they can continue their journey without needing me.

I take pride in being able to give my clients the push they need to get where they want to be in terms of health and fitness.

Embedded in my ethos is the desire to inspire my clients to want to be their best selves, without that, there is no reason to do what I do.

Why work with me?

I am not a salesman. Unlike many Personal Trainers in Essex, I care deeply about my clients progress and want to help get results quickly.

Personal training isn't about shouting at someone to make them exercise. For me it's about the ten years experience and knowledge I have behind me, which allows me to educate clients on how to quickly get where they want to be.
