Do I really need a personal fitness trainer?
I hear that many people are lucky enough to have the discipline to stop eating certain foods that are bad for them. But every so often it’s not always a bad thing to have a little junk food or sugar to cheer you up. A healthy lifestyle isn’t always about stopping eating the treats and sugary foods we love, however there is a balance in all things and food is no exception to this rule. This is where a personal trainer may come into their own. A personal trainer is not just there to run you round in circles and get you sweaty and knackered out inside an hour. The professional ones like me, pride ourselves in having the knowledge and experience from ten years of learning about diet, exercise and how to get the best out of people on a motivation level. The following extract is from a recent testimonial:
I met Ryan last year at a local boot camp session he lead, and we instantly hit it off. I saw from the way he approached the classes that he knew his work well and understood my needs – not just mine, but everyone in the class. I sought out advice from Ryan before taking part in a Spartan Race, an endurance obstacle course race similar to Tough Mudder and other endurance events. As I’d never taken part in an event like this, I figured that I would need all the help I could get. From what I’d seen in the boot camp sessions, I knew he could help me.
I took the time to sit down and discuss in detail the nature of the race that was fast approaching, as well as explaining the obstacles potentially faced. This enabled the student to understand what assistance he would need, constructing a weekly workout plan that was structured around a full-time job and still enabled him to have a social life. The plan was tailored specifically to what the student was looking for – to lower body fat whilst increasing fitness, core strength and power.
Thanks to Ryan’s help developing a workout and diet plan, I had the confidence and ability to complete not one, but three Spartan Races in the space of three months. Although I do not meet with Ryan as much as I did before, he provided me with necessary the help that I have used throughout my training today. I have taken the advice and guidance with me, which has provided me with the ability and confidence to take part in future events. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
